If the petrol or oil has already gone deep into the sponge, carpet or hidden padding, we cannot promise that the smell will become 100% zero immediately after cleaning.

In many cases, after proper deep cleaning, around 90–95% of the smell can be removed. A very light smell may still remain for a short period because some vapour or trace smell can still be trapped in the material. Normally, after proper drying, ventilation and some time, the remaining smell will continue to reduce and eventually disappear.

We have handled many similar cases before. Most customers notice that the smell becomes much lighter after deep cleaning, and after the car has enough time to air out, the remaining light smell will slowly go away.

Why Perfume or Ozone Alone Is Not Enough

Some people try to solve petrol smell by spraying perfume, using air freshener or doing ozone treatment only.

These methods may reduce the smell temporarily, but they cannot remove the petrol or oil residue if the source is still inside the seat sponge, carpet or under-carpet layer.

For strong petrol or oil smell, the correct method is:

1. Repair the leakage source first

2. Dismantle the affected interior parts if needed

3. Wash and clean the contaminated parts properly

4. Dry everything completely

5. Reinstall the interior parts carefully

6. Ventilate the car and allow the remaining light smell to reduce naturally

Ozone or odour treatment can only support the process after proper cleaning. It should not replace deep cleaning when the source is still inside the material.

What You Should Do If Petrol or Oil Spills Inside Your Car

If your car interior smells strongly of petrol or oil, do not ignore it.

You should:

• Open the windows for ventilation

• Avoid smoking near the car

• Avoid spraying perfume to cover the smell

• Repair the leaking part first

• Do not let the oil sit inside the car for too long

• Send the car for proper inspection and interior cleaning

The earlier you clean it, the better the result. If petrol or oil stays too long inside the sponge or carpet, it may become harder to remove completely.
